Markus Scheumann

Markus Scheumann, born in Dortmund in 1968, studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg. His permanent engagements have included the Theater an der Ruhr in Mülheim, Schauspiel Köln, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, and Schauspielhaus Zürich. Markus Scheumann has appeared in various German and Swiss film and television productions, as well as in numerous radio plays, radio features, and literary readings.

Since 2009, he has narrated the daily "Sternzeit" program on Deutschlandfunk and has been the German voice for new novel releases by authors such as John Irving, Vladimir Sorokin, and Richard Powers. Starting with the 2019/20 season, he was an ensemble member of the Burgtheater in Vienna. For the 2025/26 season, he is returning to the ensemble of the Schauspielhaus Zürich.
